Session:
Approaches to Learning in the IB Continuum - Richard Hood
This session will focus on the 'learning' component of the IB's Approaches to Teaching and Learning document
. In an environment that fosters collegial sharing and growth, participants will explore research-based practices of an 'optimal learning environment, the alignment of classroom practice with the IB mission and Learner Profile, the techniques colleagues use to foster student engagement, gain a deeper understanding of the needs of adolescent learners and learning and will explore the balance of cognitive and social/emotional learning opportunities that promote student growth. The session will include guided inquiry, group work/investigation/presentation throughout.
Richard Hood
, passionate facilitator of adult and student learning, has a special interest in shaping administrator and teacher commitment into intentional practices of learning and teaching. He has authored and led workshops for Literature, Language and literature and Approaches to teaching and learning in South Africa, USA, Turkey, Ireland, Thailand, Sweden and Mongolia. He is also an IB examiner, IB team leader and member of the Standardization and Grade Award Teams for Language and Literature HL Paper 2.
